6/1/2015 0 Comments June 01st, 2015I can't believe that 2 1/2 months have gone by and I am going back home to Florida. I flew up here March 17th to be there to help out my sister Camille. Who is only 13th months older than me. We were always called 'Irish Twins' because of that. :-) She was very very ill and was basically on deaths' door. She has Scleroderma, an Auto-immune Disease and it was attacking her lungs. She was on the lung transplant list and due to her failing health would not be able to stay on list for a transplant, if some didn't come within the next week. I remember 2 days before, March 11th going out under the moon and praying to the universe for Divine Intervention. I asked for an exact match for her with no complications and a text book case( rare) of a positive outcome. I spoke to Camille the next day and assured her it was going to work out for her. Not to give up. Well the very next day, March 13. I get a call from my sister Ali that lungs came in and Camille was going to UPenn to see if the lungs were a match. She was prepped and waited in the OR till the early hours of the morning of March 14. It was a go and the surgery was performed. She had a Bi-lateral Lung (double) Transplant. She was in the hospital in recovery until April 8th when she was discharged. I took her back and forth to Philadelphia for her labs, ex-rays and rehab 3 days a week. She graduated rehab on the 19th of May. Camille is doing fantastic. She had the rare text book and much wanted scenario. The doctors are excited and amazed of how well she is doing. Amazing! I leave with a happy heart. She is out and about with no oxygen tanks and living a renewed quality of life. Camille will always be on medication to prevent her body from rejecting her new lungs, her immune system will be delicate and at times have to wear a mask depending on certain situations. Grateful for all the prayers and well wishes that were given and the donors family for their gift. Wishing you peace, balance and harmony... Christi
