"I once saw a sign that said "GOD stands for Guaranteed Overnight Delivery," and it's true that God can and does instantly heal and create solutions. So why do some prayers seem to take so long to be answered? I can't claim to know all of the nuances and answers to this question, but I have learned this component to divine timing: Free will choices. For example, if your prayers involve another person, such as praying for someone's health recovery or to meet a romantic partner, then God will only intervene to the degree that the other person is open to receiving help and guidance.
This is also true with praying for world peace: everyone else's free will choices determine how or when this prayer is answered.
And if you're praying for yourself, your free will is also a determining factor. For example, choosing to trust God's plan, instead of trying to control the situation with your own plan. Also, knowing that you deserve care and love – so that you don't inadvertently push it away.
Trusting in God's will and timing actually speeds up the timing of answered prayer. We create our own blocks when we try to control everything and everyone because of fears. This really is a case of Let Go and Let God . . .feel that relief and peace when you completely hand the situation over to the divine infinite wisdom of God.
Here's a helpful prayer: Dear God, I want to trust in your timing, as I do realize that you can see everything and that you know the best pathway. Please help me to slow down, breathe, and feel grateful instead of worried, while I trust in your divine timing."
